Yes, I guess so, though I don't know what level the digital voice protocol goes on. I haven't tried digital voice in this setup so not that much help.

For the US number I used Voip.ms and for UK I use Voipfone. The phones I have are mapped to the multiple lines.

Thanks for that - I've just set up with Voipfone - really cheap but excellent support - answered the phone very quickly, knew their stuff.

Doing the free 1 month trial, so also ordered a VoIP analogue gateway (which they pre-configure to your Voipfone account). This means we can use our existing Panasonic DECT setup so SWMBO won't receive too much of a shock to the system. If all goes well, in due course I'll switch all the internal stuff to a Yealink W73x setup. Porting our existing landline number to VoIP is also free.

So, for a 50 quid outlay, our analogue line cost will go down from £480 pa to £60pa. Admittedly, if I get the Yealink stuff with 2 DECT handsets, that's another £200, but it's very much still a decent win. Plus, I don't have to deal with BT any more.

Has anyone had any dealings with Carnhill Transformers recently? I was in email conversation with them at the start of Aug about them making a batch of (was) Sowter transformers. But nothing since, and they don't seem to be answering there phone either. Though maybe its a half day Friday.

One for Mike.

I drove past Aurora tonight. Looks like they spent a lot of money doing it up, it's even got an upstairs now !

What you doing down there then?

Yep a builder guy bought it to do up, loft conversion and dormer windows, and there's an extension out the back too, where the Crittall conservatory used to be.

Just by coincidence I was looking at it a few days ago with Google satellite view, and seems the garden's been tidied up a bit too and a new bigger patio, and what could be a new greenhouse. The horrible shed we had down the bottom has gone, that must have been fun to dismantle, it was corrugated cement panels over a steel frame.

Have you still got the drill press you had of me?

Yes indeed, it's in my conservatory. Most useful piece of equipment.

I was on my way home from seeing Mum and did a short diversion to see your old gaff. :)

Righty-ho. :thumbleft:

Glad you're making use of the drill press, I wasn't, I thought I'd be drilling lots of hols in chassis, but when it came to the point was just quicker and easier to use a cordless. If I had to drill anything thick which needed the hole to be properly vertical, OK, but I wasn't. I've got a small drill press that fits the Black and Decker if the need comes up.

I kicked karoo(kcom) out in march which meant losing the karoo phone. The new ISP allowed me to keep my router so I bought a grandstream voip interface and plugged the existing panasonic digiphones into it. Karoo reluctantly gave the new ISP my existing number. So far no problems.

all is very much cheaper...it wont take long to recover the cost of the grandstream.

I have a Grandstream HT801 as a trial with Voipfone at the moment using our existing analog Panasonic DECT phones and will switch to a full VoIP system sometime in the next few months (not too many shocks to the system at the same time for SWMBO).

Mine is a panasonic dect which I was glad to keep because we have 3 satellites. the grandstream is also ht801 and I cant justify changing it because it's been seamless.

The only thing I keep tripping up on is that it needs the std code for local calls....I'm sure I'll get astride that in time.

Mum was allocated a home to recuperate after hospital, and the 4 week placement runs out on 14th May.

I'd like her to stay where she is, but they have no vacancies. :(

So now I need to find somewhere nice for her.

Seems the average cost is circa £1,500 per week.

Probably!

When my mum was in care there were intimations about possibly selling the bungalow to help fund it, BUT, because I was also resident there and over 60 (if only just), I couldn't be booted out so that it could be sold.
