I haven't actually started using it yet !
Been too busy trying to get the upper bass situation sorted out.
I have one built, currently . Just tried a couple of cheap SS amps , see thread on TA2024 on 'projects' which morphed into a TDA7297 amp fairly quickly. That sounds pretty good low down .

One advantage of the current exploration of OB for the 70-700Hz area is that the crossover to the T.H. is lower and hopefully easier to accomplish ; and also I think that for my purposes, one tapped horn will be sufficient to cover the low bass as the directionality is insignificant down there.

ok, But I'm not so sure you will be satisfied with just one?
I have never tried tapped horns myself, so I am just curious.

THs are bonkers.

A pair of those 6.5" Tang Band mini-subs filled the Owston room with bass down to <30Hz, wihtout being pushed up against a wall/corner.

They're a lot of cabinet for not-much driver, but they definitely get the most bang for your buck.

Do you have a specific concern , Jan, because just listening with a Sig.Gen, it sounds so un-directional below say 80Hz, I have little concern.
Sensitivity is well over 95dB/w, so no power concerns.

Then just try it with one, and see ( or listen ).
What kind of HP filter are you planning on?

Post what you want to post Lynn, its all good. You are of course welcome to start your own threads so you can post both, a memories of NASA thread would fit just fine in the anything goes section and group delay where you think it would be best, either Marks thread or start your own.

Thanks, Nick. The Summer of '69 NASA story will go in the "anything goes" section, where it belongs.

We'd be in a very different situation had funding continued, probably a permanent presence on the Moon and Mars.

Hi Lynn,

Sorry, NASA stuff doesn't fit in here, especially as after all the damage, Mark's thread was starting to show signs of recovery.

I've started a new one for you.

http://www.audio-talk.co.uk/phpBB2/view ... 676#114676

You can write everything and anything on this thread relating to NASA. Let's hope Mark's speaker thread recovers and gets back on line especially for him and the information of others.

Thanks,

Greg

Perhaps Mark could do a r'esum'e of his speaker project and then we can go forward again ?

Thanks guys, yes. Good time to regroup .
More tomorrow.
Just finishing off running-in the Tone Tubby ( first one ) , between evaluating some phono step-ups from Tribute , and finishing off a chip amp for the bass.
As Jan suggests, I'll just 'suck it and see' regarding the use of only one Tapped horn for the low bass. If it works fine, I save on time/money/space !

Might get a loan of some Yamaha compression drivers to use instead of the GPA288's .
