Marvellous Al! Thanks for sharing and cheering up my day. Whilst it's a very sad end for any piece of vinyl I'm guessing it wasn't an original copy of Love Love Me Do or anything...

No Simon.

Twas a song i had never heard of, sung by someone equally famous.
The disc was pretty much unplayable anyway.
Much to learn there is.

Well if it wasn't before, it is now !! Nice try Al. You had the courage to try something probably quite a few of us had been thinking of trying but never had the courage to see through. :D :D

I'm saving a Lena Zavaroni LP for something equally horrible.

Going back to the original programme, did they suggest what sort of "brush" ? Scrubbing brush, clothes brush .. Image

If memory serves me it looked like a pastry brush or something similar.

However, if you read that I already tried this method using my disco-static machine and found though it made the records nice a shiney it did nothing for the playing quality of some old records.

Disco static is where the cleaning starts. I still haveone in the shed and I did find it useful. It helped retrieve the unplayable filthy to a remarkably puncy album that is a treat nowadays too; A gypsy Kings Lp that had been used for breakfast instead off a plate - real paella!

A vacuum pump really is the beez nees though and in my hay day I used both. Results were excellent.

But I never used vodka.

Yep, in comparison with all options out there, for price I don't think you can beat an Okki-Nokki for good value record cleaning.
