Re: Owston 2018 - What Are You Bringing?

If we are short of easy listening speakers I can bring my A12p single driver coffins along on Sunday. They've been before, but if there are no other single driver speakers coming they might make an interesting reference point. I've also got the much easier to transport micro-fonkens :) I should have...

Re: Owston 2018 - What Are You Bringing?

On a slightly different track, I'd really like the chance to listen to some of the many headphone amps that folks have. I'm planning on replacing my 'vintage' class a sand amp (the one from the WAD diy supplement in the early 90's) at some point and it would be great to get to audition a few of the ...

Re: 6C33C SE-OTL

I'm a fan of the 6c33, but its a tricky beast to drive. I've never tried them with an aikido front end, been on my list to do for a long while now. I messed around with a few variations on a c3g driven stage, and that just wasn't up to the job. You need something that can swing both voltage and curr...

SimonC - might be of interest - I'm having difficulty contacting you on email, so if you read this, here's something useful on the coupling-chamber volume for the FE208Ez. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/full-range/318518-dallas-ii-build-9.html#post5387703 Thanks :) I'm here and lurking. Re: Desktop/PC speakers...

I have a pair of FF105WK's that might be sold some time. They have a spike around 7kHz that is a bit annoying if you sit on-axis to them. Aside from that, or if you use them a bit off-axis, the mid & treble tone is very good - slightly better than the 103e's. The 103e's are better on-axis thoug...

Re: Headphone Recommendations

I use senny HD650 for home (on a hifi world class A SE sand amp if anybody remembers those...) and AKG Y50's for on the move. The Y50's are wired, not blue tooth as thats the way I roll. Both are great value in their own way, and you won't go far wrong with HD650's if you can pick up a pair on sale ...

Re: chinese laser cutters

Hi Ed, My experience has been with an Epilog Mini 24. The one I use has a 50W laser, and this will cut through 3mm ply and 6mm acrylic with ease. These are the main materials I work in so I've not pushed it to see what the limit is. Its also awesome for cutting cardboard once you get the hang of the...
