Sometimes I think I am getting better at wiring up. There is an art to this. But really I just shove things in, realise my mistake, burn fingers, try again and get it right-ish eventually. I will never win prozes for neatness. I tried that funny aluminium plate stuff and found that unless I seriousl...

Hooray! avec plaisir Simon.

Give us your address and I'll send them to you. I was hoping, rather like that other chap (from whom I have not yet heard) that someone who doesn't do this sort of thing would have his/her imagination fired, like DTB.

Their loss eh!

You really ought to try 6C33s then.

They will heat a room nicely and, oddly perhaps, now I've got the cathode resistors right, the heat is coming from the valves themselves. The resistors appropriately heatsunk too, just get warm.

That's interesting Nick, I know there is a fairly big family of these types of valves (e.g. 6EW7) and I am using 6FJ7 (decatron) in the latest push pull jobbie. I'd assumed 6FJ7 = 6DN7 but now I am wondering. I'll look up the spec. to compare and contrast. - can't give 6EM7s away! or I'd be worried ...

Spam

We are getting to odd pornyspam here aren't we. I've seen other places get loads and I s'pose, further, that there isn't much we can do about it.

Is it 'mostly harmless'?

Mr Purvine has replied usefully and comprehensively. Amity, here I come. In the meantime I have been building the PushPull version of the Bottleheads SEX amp. I used 6FJ7s simply because they look different to 6DN7. Input transformer / splitter and outputs are tiny 10k Hammonds. I am astonished at h...

Thanks Nick and Mark. I emailed Mr Purvine a couple of days ago. We'll see but I'd hate to have to buy Lundahls!

Help! O-Netics

I keep reading Bud Purvine and O-Netics so I googled for about half an hour (and found some of you out there!) but no Bud and no O.

Is there a website? Is this a closely guarded secret and I have several levels of appallingly painful and embarrassing initiations I have to go through etc etc?

That's a really funny picture, Paul. I think I escaped relatively easily from Philip. He is running through several ways of driving push pull output pairs whereas the amp he supplied interstage and outputs for is a neat 4 watt jobbie so, as you can imagine, nothing expensive. What I'd like are some ...

no, I'm building two!

6DN7 push pull and 6B4G PP, which will metamorphose into 2A3 when it begins to sound right (if this is at all possible  )

It seems to me, and I am not having a go at anyone here, tha there are OBs, obs, OBs, OBsOBs,OBs, and then there are pieces of wood with speakers in and oh before anyone gets at me, of course, I haven't heard them all nor Clive's.

Spare me from listening to them all, please.

I'm suspicious .... I really like Nick's OBs and Steve's too. They are coming from dfferent places too, but .... are they more realistic than, well some other speakers. I don't think OBs are the final solution but they can sound dead good. At the weekend I was listening to some lovely live baroque m...
