Fantastic to see the LongDog pics - love the Quasars getting there usual good reception
Surely the price is too low though for commercial pricing?

Re: Stringing a Schroeder copy
Kevlar sewing thread doesn't fray to any extent if treated reasonably. I'll look up Dyneema is a new one for me - I'll look it up - thanks

Re: Stringing a Schroeder copy
First one I used monofilament line using fishing knots and superglue dots when I built it. Second one used a non stretch fine cord (0.8mm dia.).
Now I would probably use a fine kevlar thread.
ciao James

Re: cone sections
Scott has the reasons for an exponential cone correct at least according to Supravox but I can add a little more historical detail... Pre WWII i.e. in the 30s S.E.M. in France started manufacturing an exponential cone loudspeaker and the only other company doing so was University Audio in the USA. S...

Hi Phil, Recovery is going OK but very slowly... although the Consultant and support staff say its going as well as can be expected and ahead of track.... so I'm just impatient :D No stamina or ability to think for longer than 15 mins at a time but I feel fine until I do something and them I go to s...

Hi Phil, QUick reminder on the importance of connecting the 126C the right way around :D Hammond 126C – how to connect it up. Secondary black is hot and green cold the reverse of the Hammond documentation -this yields better bandwidth and less distortion see: https://www.bartola.co.uk/valves/tag/ham...

Re: Oracle Delphi mk1 Quick Restoration
I didn't want to comment until you had tried it as its been an ambition of yours to hear one but what you have found sounds exactly what I did when I heard one against an SP10 back in the late 70s... heard them both in a Krell Apogee system and the contrast between the two was pretty much exactly as...

I second the Berning amplifiers! Also: Turntables: Sony PS-X9, Denon DP-100, Pioneer Esoteric P3 & P5. I've heard the Trio L-07 & Yamaha GT2000L (best DD I've heard) Amplifiers: Dartzeel CH-8550 to see if it really does meld 'valve and solid state' sound- I've heard most others I've been int...

Re: Asymmetrical waveforms !
Nick, Doug Self was publishing graphs of his amp producing this... we're talking about 1990s here after all - The Technics amp being in production from 1991 to 1994. Its a pretty amp: http://www.thevintageknob.org/technics-SE-A5000.html Actually you have a point as the AP System 1 (1985) accuracy wa...

Re: Asymmetrical waveforms !
I have to say that I found the 'blameless' amp a little sterile and un-involving when I built one back in the day. I was also surprised to see him claiming it as such when Japanese super amps of the same era match his distortion specs with more power and certainly were not regarded as blameless.... ...

Problems of Class AB Push Pull. One of the problems with Class AB PP amplifiers is at low signal level (i.e. near the zero crossing point), where both devices are operating at the same time in Class A, this low level signal is then subjected to the problems of two stages output adding together compa...
