Re: Pre-amp driver

But as the two cores are not coupled, the 25v torroid will only reduce the voltage if its under load, the voltage out of the two transformers will be very dependent on the load on the two transformers.

I don't see that; it should work fine. I did a similar thing the other way around when we ...

Re: Pre-amp driver

About 25 v torroid secondary in series with the primary to reduce the b+ and I’m there.

Indeed but there is also the falicy falicy such that while may be fallacious to believe science it may still be correct. And I would ask if you know of a more reliable path to truth?

Re: The Quackery Thread

Thomas Kuhn - the structure of scientific revolutions , extends further Karl Poppers 'falsification' to show scientific method in practice as an inevitable and unavoidable human element .

That's nice, but I am not sure why it matters in this case? I would be more impressed with Philosophy other ...

I think at this point we should be way past being surprised that people do stupid things and that other people have realized this and are taking advantage of that wherever possible. I think eventually some of us will have to accept that being rational (and certainly expecting rational choices ...

Re: Gear Box Rantings

Very short clip of the car with the H2 engine and the Westfield with a Z1 (I think it is) engine. Both with the gear control box. It was the first shake down for the H2 engine car after spending a day at the dyno with it. Stuff to do (as there is always).

Simple answer, no idea. You would be better to ask the question to the folk here that spend more time building and understanding loudspeakers. I was just commenting on the danger of cherry picking something someone says that happens to align to the world view you may want to find justification for ...

Re PMC and statics, just be aware that that quote sounds very much like the sort of thing a loudspeaker maker may say just because it sounds like its a good thing. Its another of those lines like "its all about the music" that sound good but doesn't actually mean anything.

Re: Quad II

Actually I dont understand why the effectively long tailed pair resistor as standard should be bypassed.

Its an A/B amp output stage, so not just a simple LTP, one side can be in cut off, so the total current will vary at times with the rectified signal peaks, if the cathode resistor is not ...

Steve jobs would almost certainly have gone on a nuclear firing spree if this iPadOS disaster had happened on his watch.
Or at least blamed the user for holding the update incorrectly :-)
