If Wolfgang is successful with the SP10 coil, you could sub-contract it to him !

Should you wish to try a rewind, I have a "MoReCo Morris Improved Coilwinder" which you are welcome to borrow. I could bring it to Owston ..

I've used it to rewind the output transformers of various vintage radios etc...

Greg wrote: Wed May 08, 2019 8:59 pm As for the coil, back in my day I seem to recall me and most of my RE mates had substituted the original for something car based. Can’t remember what, but no doubt associated with our conversions to 12V and the use of RS solid state rectifiers. Well done Mr Bass. 8)
Ta Greg, I fitted one of these to the Indian Bullet about 21 years ago, still going fine :) -> https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/97

Now there's an idea, I'm sure it'd be far cheaper than the £15 or so it'd cost to get a new one off the shelf!

Ta for the offer but the ignition coil isn't exactly rare or bespoke thankfully.

But surely a man of your tastes would want to wind it from litz wire with the correct sectioning for high frequency operation ... etc ?

Yes I have, was a Lucas and looked practically identical what you have there. The '17M12' rings a bell, could be a Lucas code? Mine had a bad connection of one end of the primary; took it apart, soldered it up and got a working coil again. Unfortunately I'd lost the oil, also couldn't crimp the top back on again so filled it with resin.
