Hi all, came here whilst searching for details on some old audio equipment, looked good, so I've joined.
Me? Old, music nut, not audiophile, really, but apreciate good sound quality, still doing the occasional mobile disco, install sound systems (100v line) for a living, don't watch TV and I'm keen on computers.
I also happen to know another forum member here who I've just made contact with again after a four year break from socialising.
Huge Captain Beefheart fan and also enjoy about a squillion other artistes.

Hi Ya Tony!
Thanks for joining up.
I'll give the others a bit of background if its OK.
Mr FloppyBootStomp is a luvverly chap and Electronics Technician who I worked with back in the 80's and early 90's. It's his fault for introducing me to Beefheart Tony, we've got to introduce you to Ed aka VitalStates, he rivals your Beefheartian nerdyness 'Zoot' owes him!!!!!
Tony's also keeping it quiet that he built a valve amp from Elektor magazine back in the mid 80's. I remember him doing it but it hummed, I hadn't forgotten it in all these years!!! We're going to have a bash at solving it.
You're never gonna beleieve it Tony but remember those Goldring-Lenco turntables that used to get trashed around the schools in the early-mid 80's we used to get in for repair at the ILEA/GLC workshop??? Well.... you wanna see what some folk here (and me) are doing with them now. I never thought I'd be using one 26 years later.
This place is a goldmine of help/friendship and info.
Welcome! Nice to have you here.

Thanks for the welcome
Having a problem with the avatar I normally use, I've resized it to 80 x 80 pixels but it's weighing in at around 18kb and the limit here for an avvie is 6kb, apparently.
Anybody know of a solution?
I tried reducing it in pixel size in an attempt to reduce the file size but by the time it was 6kb I could fit it on the head of pin...

Dunno how you managed that, mine's only 3.18k and it's 80x80. It's a JPG file of course, if that makes any difference. Well is compressed

My goodness I rather fear I may have been the victim of a tad too much Guinness yesterday evening
Looked again, the 80 x 80 jpeg is 13kb, reduced it to 70 x 70 and it weighs in at 5.16Kb.
Thanks for your response
