Back in the saddle after a good few weeks out (7) but really not fit enough for this tough ride in strong winds with a lot of short sharp hills (and some long ones)...
Started in Lenham, out to a very nice café on the coast at Seasalter and then back.
The San Fairy Ann lot I cycle with (D+ group). As my youngest says, a load of MAMILs (Middle Aged Men In Lycra)... Lovely bunch of people. Bloody fit though. Bastards.

I went out for just over an hour, also first time for about 6 weeks.
Felt weak - however weather lovely.
Exhausted at the end. Doesn't make sense really given the 5 hour mountain walk I did 2 weeks ago, but maybe I'm still tired from that.

We've just done a lovely 3 pint/9.5 mile walk along the Thames path and Darenth Valley path.
S'nice.

I've been keeping the cranks turning this week; 119miles covered and 6,400ft climbed.
It was a bit chilly first thing this morning, gonna have to start wearing extra layers and dig out the fingered gloves soon.

Got the Tour of Britain on record this afternoon. It's going right through my old stamping grounds from teenage and early-20's years, near Bolton.
Edgeworth, Belmont, Winter Hill, Horwich, Blackrod, Haigh, Aspull...

I've been catching the ToB highlights most evenings, It's on straight after the Vuelta coverage. The juxtapositioning of the two certainly highlights how the ToB doesn't quite measure up yet; things like where people get away with leaving their cars on the race route and a KoM finish blocked by an official vehicle stopping just before the summit.IslandPink wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 3:23 pm Got the Tour of Britain on record this afternoon. Oh, and this year it seems to be the 'Tour of the northern-half of Britain'!

Lovely ride out with SFA group today. Stupidly scenic and perfect weather
67.5 km, top speed of 63km/h and approx 3,000 ft of climbing...
Terrific lunch at The Independent Pedaler near Canterbury - highly recommend this stop if in the vicinity...

Oooh, that'll take a bit of effort to get it rolling!
Nowhere to stow a piccalilli sandwich though.

Ground clearance could be a problem too, but I'll have it if its going to go to the skip anytime soon
I've done nearly 3 miles this week on a bike. Walked about 10 today though, we seem to be doing a lot of walking this summer. This summer we walked from London Bridge station back home to Dirtfud via the Thames Path, we broke the journey into 4 sections.

Yes, but at least the ToB doesn't involve the loathsome Alejandro Valverde.Ray P wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 3:39 pm I've been catching the ToB highlights most evenings, It's on straight after the Vuelta coverage. What a beautiful crisp, clear and bright early autumn morning today. A bit on the chilly side though when I headed out at 7:00 this morning for a 25mile loop up onto the Blackown Hills; leggings, base layer and proper gloves were the order of the day.
Another good week all in, 118miles total and 6,500ft of climbing.
Loosing the extra weight has made so much difference to my riding, especially when the road goes up. The scales say 11st 10lbs this morning so just another 3lbs to get to my target.
