Apparently this was once a real thing.
Yep stick your kid out of an upper story window on a shelf, with a cage around to stop him falling off, so he can get some fresh air. Also acrophobia for life I expect.

When I was young I decided to go to medical school...
One of the questions in the entrance exam was to rearrange the letters P N E S I to form the name of an important human body part which is most useful when erect.
Those that answered "SPINE" are now doctors, the rest are engineers...
