Yep, using gloss enamel spray cans. Definitely not the most efficient way. By the time I'd finished I thought "I probably could have bought a decent spray gun and a tin of paint for the same price of all the spray cans" haha.Ali Tait wrote:Very nice finish! Did you spray them yourself?

God morning,
I'm new here and i live in germany-hamburg. sorry for my bad english, i forgot to much.

Is here somebody who has builded the frugal-horn with the fostex fe 168ez? and from where can I get the plans for building.
It would be great if somone can help me.

Leaving aside the fact that the FE168ESigma is physically too wide to fit in FH3 (no, you can't just widen it), it really needs a larger enclosure / horn for optimal performance. Sorry.

Probably not. You see, I designed it (or a fair proportion), so I'm reasonably well versed on developments on that front. We have done a somewhat larger design of this type (FHXL), but it was intended for 5in units, with the Mark Audio Alpair 10P being the default. The 168ESigma should physically fit & may (may) work -I'll need to check. It's not going to be released freely, like FH3 was, but a few are being beta tested at the moment; contact Dave via the Frugal-Horn site.

#491 Re: Frugal Horn Mk3 builds
I have finally dug my Frugal Horn 3 speakers out from the loft.
The MDF cabinets (from an Ebay seller in Germany) have been re-united with my "enabled" Fostex FE126 drivers and were used for TV duties for a few days fed by an old Sony SS amp, which gave me a decent sound, at last.
Just now I substituted the Frugals in place of my baffles, and to be honest, I'm surprised how good they sound. In their temporary position the bass is a bit light, but everything else is lacking nothing. Stereo sound-stage is very good, and they seem "less obvious" in use. The amps being used are my GK-71 (as a triode) monoblocks.
I may well give the baffles a "rest" in the near future and set up the Frugals in a more optimum position.
