Ive lost count of the number of new screens ive had put in our collection of phones
For some reason the sony phones i have had have always cost more than the others. Dunno why, perhaps its because they were not as popular as the equivalent samsung or apple

It's time to add the finishing touches to the 13E1 build so today I've been making the front panel for it. It's being hewn from olive wood (repurposing a cutting board, something Ant put me on to). Olive wood is an interesting material to work with, it's hard and seems to chip, almost like ceramic, when you saw it. I cut it a little over-size and then trimed back the edge with the router, which seemed to do the trick.

I've got the basic blank cut and sanded and I've given it a couple of coats of Liberon finishing oil. Tomorrow I'm planning to drill it and carry on with the finishing.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

My neighbour, (who disposed of all my conifer branches) had a letter from the Council admonishing him for having bonfires, so to get rid of all the accumulation of remaining debris, and excess garden waste I've invested in 8 biggish plastic tubs from B & Q. I've got an appointment at Sudbury tip on Monday to unload the first batch. Our green bin is only emptied every fortnight so the garden waste has built up to quite a pile.

Got to get my Flu jab on Monday morning, seems having Flu and Covid could be a VERY nasty combination.

My Honda CRV seems to have a split pipe between the exhaust manifold and EGR valve cooler, and I've just received a kit of parts to put things right. I use Cox Honda mail order and they do a very good service. The kit contains the pipe, gaskets and bolts for the pipe and any items that need to be removed to get at it,and at substantially less cost than the pipe alone (used to be). I don't look forward to car repair jobs these days, but I think I can manage this one, although quite a few parts have to be removed to get access.

Feel the same way about car repairs Phil, though when it came to new front pads and discs and a new seat belt tensioner, which BMW wanted around £1350 for, I did those myself buying the parts from Ebay for under 300 quid. Ironically the discs and pads I got are made by the company that makes them for BMW. :D

Having spent 3/4 of my working life with replacement vehicle parts I feel I know what "non genuine" parts are equal to manufacturers parts, as most manufacturers buy them in anyway. But, there are pitfalls for the unwary.

Ebay can be a good source of parts, as can places like (for example) Euro Car Parts.

True. All main dealers use the book price for jobs and only manufacturer's parts.

This is where independent garages win out assuming that you're out of warranty. Volvo are exactly the same - we have a D5 estate - incredibly useful car but Volvo parts are expensive - son & I do pretty much everything now on the cars, except the engine which is a bit to subtle for me... too many computers & sensors...

I’m down to one x19 now having sold the red one during lockdown. This one has been over heating a bit due I think to the system needing a proper bleed. Being mid engine air finds its way to the rad and stays there so fiat put a bleed nipple on the rad, this works well until you strip the threads!

So messy job for me this morning to drain the system and drop the rad, I’m dropping it off at a local radiator specialist to get it fixed and recored....although it looks like its been restored before...

It is indeed, got a genuine new seat belt tensioner for £80. The part from BMW is around £450 I believe.

They wanted £870 to do the front pads and discs, got these on ebay for £216-https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOR-BMW-530d ... 2749.l2649

From my researches online Textar make OEM for BMW.

That makes me feel a bit better. I just took my Civic in for service and MOT. It turned out to need all four discs and pads, and a new anti-roll bar drop link. Total bill was £998. I thought that was a bit steep, but maybe not?

I would have thought the chances of both the front and rear disk's wearing out at the same time was low.

Indeed. The reason for the high cost on my car (at least from BMW) is that the brakes are the same as the M5. I take it that was from the main stealer Shane?

Depends on mileage. It could be the first set of rear discs and perhaps second, or third set of front discs.

Having looked at the discs before it went in, I wasn’t at all surprised. The car’s on 65k miles. Original rears, second set of fronts. I think the previous owner was a bit hard on them.

Trying to sort out the kids pc.
It runs at a snails pace at the moment, so ive done the usual and cleaned up tifs and windows update files. Also ran the registry cleaner.
Then when i came to run defrag as it appears that the auto defrag option hasnt been activated, so its not been done in the almost 12 months we have had it.
Predictably, the win10 optimise and defrag program wont run. Tried a few fixes and it just wont have it
So ive had to download another program to do it.
