She's fine at the moment, thanks Phil. However her risks are high as she needs at least one daily care visit to cope. I have a feeling she'll be lucky not to get the virus at some point - but at least she isn't diabetic or have any lung problems. My sister is going over on Sunday/Monday , she's taken various precautions like not working since Tuesday ( she's an optician ) and will be taking a face mask and various anti-bacterial things, and keeping further away from her, just in case.

My brothers and I have had my mum, in her mid-80s, isolated since last weekend but she's starting to get like a caged animal. I know one of my brothers is going to collect some shopping for her today and when I called her last evening and she harboured thoughts that 'perhaps I can go out and do the shop with Malcolm when he comes tomorrow' - I already know what Malcolm's response will be!

Unfortunately my part of the arrangement is just to phone mum often as I live over 100miles from her, having moved to Somerset 40years ago, but fortunately I have Malcolm and two other brothers living within a short distance of her, along with various grown-up nieces and nephews.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

I ordered (on Ebay) a couple of thermometers, one each for Jean and I.

Seems the normal range is from 97 F - 99 F.

I'm 96.6 F, near enough for a cool dude.

Our thermometer was underreading nearly a deg (C). No low V indication. Needed a new battery. I'll be happy when it can go back in the cupboard.

Some people are normally sub-37 and some above - it's a mean, not an absolute.

My son & I tend to be around 36.5, my wife around 37.2.

We got a Bosch in-ear digital thermometer a few months ago. They are excellent - accurate and very fast (just a few seconds). Recommended.

Might this be a better place to discuss mortality, and how to avoid it ?
