Can anyone in the West Yorkshire area recommend a good (but inexpensive) independent tyre supplier ?

Bradford, Cleckheaton, Halifax and Huddersfield areas ideally.

Buy your tyres from Black Circle. Have them delivered to the fitter of your choice. Pay additionally for the fitting, but overall bill is likely to be the most competitive.

I have used Tyresonthedrive a couple of times now.

Not sure how independent they are, but I have also used Tyre City in Halifax.

I use a great local chap to swap from winter to summer tyres, and he also does all the servicing on the 320d. Its just thrown up a EGR fault, so there will be another trip to him soon.

I’ve just checked my previous preference.

Formula 1 are approximately £2.50 per tyre cheaper on my own preferred choice of tyre against Black Circles. Plenty of depots in your interested area. Price may vary according to your tyre of choice. In my case, a mate in the industry can’t match Formula 1 prices even at ‘mates rates’.

Thanks for the info.

Black Circles are part of the Michelin empire (as are ATS Euromaster) and their prices are competitive, usually just below ATS.

Some of the cheaper tyres on offer are really CRAP, and even Micky Mouse would have second thoughts on using them.

I'll spend some more time browsing.

Cos I go there now and then and I thought Yorkshire tyres may be less expensive. :)

Yep, my van right now has the cheapest tyres I could get. They behave like ice scates but when there’s no ice.

Recently had a pair of Michelin Crossclimate tyres fitted to the wife’s car, not cheap but boy they are good, quiet and loads of grip in the wet. I was impressed enough to get a pair fitted to the front of my car, both cars are front wheel drive, better than the Hankook and Continental tyres they replaced.

That’s interesting. I have always used Michelin because they last so much longer than other makes and for a while I’ve used Energy Saver +. Crossclimate is I think about another tenner per tyre. Maybe I’ll go for these next time which will be in the next month albeit I’m a little troubled by the tread cut. It suggests rapid wear to me which obviates my desire for well established Michelin long tyre life.

Don’t know about wear Greg but I suppose it depends on how you drive and how much power you put through them. I’m not too worried about wear as I do little mileage these days, real use ratings here: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Miche ... limate.htm

Another vote for Crossclimates, used them in my last three cars. Excellent tyres.
