Just printed off a cartridge alignment tool:

Seems to be pretty accurate so happy with the results :D

Cool, baerwald alignment by the looks of it with those null points

I've been pratting about with alignment protractors this morning, there was something off with the 301 that I couldn't put my finger on. I have an ancient altai protractor that has the nulls marked in inches so I've never known what alignment it was. Turns out its baerwald, so I printed a Stevenson one off the vinyl engine and stuck it to a piece of scrap acrylic.

I like Stevenson better, most people couldn't care less either way I suspect so long as it lines up bang on and doesn't distort.
But then I am the worst turntable pedant I know

Yep - baerwald.
I do not notice too much difference betwixt the 2 once setup correctly with either.

Ant, have you not tried the Conrad protractor generator? Need a windows pc to run it. Measure the pivot to spindle distance and choose the curve you want....third one down here: http://www.conradhoffman.com/chsw.htm

Yep I've seen that before Neal, I tried it a few years ago when I had a windows laptop, kids broke that one and I just have the mac mini now so I can't run it

Thanks Neal. What a great program. I lost my CAD program template. Printed off the Stevenson and found my arm out by quite a bit so hope the distortion I was experiencing will reduce when I get a go tomorrow.

I like the ability to set the overhang by tracing the arc. It them makes alignment on the nulls much easier.

Cheers,
Stephen
