Looks nice Neal.
Were they the ones that used to bend in the middle with the doors open ?
I hope yours is not too rust affected.

I had a beetle that did that ( vertically) when I tried to Jack it up to change a wheel...
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

When I sold my Sunbeam Tiger (to get married) I took an Austin 1100 automatic in part exchange.
I used it for a while, but when I got a puncture, and tried to jack up one side, the jack went up but the car did not !! Rotten sills.
Also the inner wings were found to be newspaper covered with underseal.
Since then I've been more careful when inspecting old cars.

Morris Marina's were also like that. Jack up one wheel (any wheel), you can't open any of the doorsandrew Ivimey wrote: ↑Tue May 15, 2018 11:22 am I had a beetle that did that ( vertically) when I tried to Jack it up to change a wheel...

Actually, I’ll have you know, they where designed with the USA crash test in mind that never came into force IE: 50mph head on crash so they where over engineered and too heavy hence the poor performance figures of the time. They had to slap a1500cc unit in to get some performance back.
I agree the thick lip versions aren’t the prettiest but try finding an early one with the quarter bumpers that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. If Dave volunteers to stand in front of the wall I’ll give the 50mph test a go.....

The Italian temptress doesn’t like me, the more I do the more she fights back, feisty one this one. Thought I’d finished on the engine when I noticed a bit of a coolant leak which turned into a bit of a hose pipe. Found a hole in a transfer pipe from thermostat to water pump.....which requires the removal of the inlet and exhaust manifolds to replace.....OK PIA but I need to do it and then, found the exhaust manifold is cracked, oh bugger, this is getting expensive but I have no choice Parts on order and I hope this is the last of the issues with the motor.....
A hole, transfer pipe
A bigger issue
