#1 Newbie
Greetings.
For fifteen years I have inhabited a parallel universe but following the departure of Peter Comeau, that forum slowly lost its original vitality and interest, leaving me to wonder what life might be like here.
Don't spend a lot of time in the cybersphere but happy to talk about early keyboard instruments and pipe organs, singers of the Golden Age and pre-1960 motorbikes. Oh, I built my first Williamson in 1954 and still enjoy my Tannoy corner Autographs bought in 1967, currently fed by a WAD 6550 I built 15 years ago. I have neither knowledge of nor interest in current stuff.
Lottsa familiar names seem to have migrated here. Might be fun?

Hi Baggy and welcome. I’ve been waiting for you to turn up here for years! Rest assured, your contributions will be much appreciated.
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

Baggins!! What's it got in its pockets? Welcome.
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

I'm flattered that so many remember me and are so welcoming. Thank you all.
Recovering from a virulent condition probably associated with the current national health crisis. Thought I might have had a stroke or possibly transient ischemic attack (where's Dr Ivimey when you need him?) but fortunately neither. All clear now and about to substitute a couple of existing pots with new Alps gizmos. I hope I shall be able to hear the improvement.

Out of interest I put "orange tractor" into Google images and that came up with many different types, including Fordson and Kubota.
I'm familiar with Kubota because I was parts manager with a Massey Ferguson dealer who also sold Kubota tractors and excavators.

It reminds me of the lady who thought it was cute to name fire engines as she had seen one called Dennis and another called Guy.

My boat has a Beta Marine 600cc 10hp Diesel engine, which is a Kubota industrial engine marinated in the UK. In the 17 seasons since it was fitted it’s never missed a beat and never once failed to fire on the first compression even after being laid up for the winter. Brilliant little thing.
