Yes, true - now, I checked and remembered I'd read a DVD ( Arena 'Beat Generation' documentary and David Lynch interview ) to the computer and got as far as it being in a folder, but it wouldn't play from there. Here's is a capture showing how it looks at the moment :

If you do go down the NAS route remember you will need to back it up...and RAID is not a back up!

RAID is not a backup :-D.

As well as RAID I have a backup I keep at home and one I keep elsewhere. If the house burns down most things can be replaced. Things like photos can't.

Ah, looks like I can play the 'VOB' files with DivX , so that's something. A way of joining up the chunks back into a complete film would be good.
