Ta mike i'll look at that. once ive pulled the head off it i'll know where I stand with it
The chap I use for powder coating does media blasting so i'll speak to him and see what he reckons aswell as he does loads of restoration work on old bikes.
Last time I saw him there was a cx500 frame and engine in the workshop. The plate was on the workbench and it turned out that the cx was the one mi dad used to own 20 odd years ago!

I never realised Dad (Steve aka Cressy snr) was a biker once.

I had a Triumph Tiger Cub until I passed my car test, does that make me a biker. It did at least 50mph.

I did that trying to get over 60mph on the Barnet Bypass. Engine seized, I was sliding on my arse, luckily hit nothing, nothing but a bruised and burnt arse. That was the end of bikes for me. Gave the bike back to the guy who sold it to me Brian Sloggit (wonderful name) he said the exhaust valve had seized open, blocked capillary or summet, dry sump lubrication :?: He had some incredible bikes in the 60s, he was building a Triton (Norton frame - Triumph engine), he owned a Manx Rudge and an old ex Police Indian.
