Had a quick play with neals biscuit tin dac this afternoon.
Spdif in works, but optical doesnt. As the optical is on the board there must be some way of activating it.
Its a cs 4397, and it actually sounds really nice with the cd player plugged ito it. Specifically, the top end seems smoother than the beresford, not so peaky, and hasnt got that little bit of harshness the beresford has. Quite abit more airy too, not so 'digital'.

Anyone have a clue how to activate the optical input?

Tried moving the jumper and got a load of hash. So that isnt the way to activate it.....

Hi Ant, what about removing the jumper completely?
Only the Sith deal in absolutes.
