I much prefer a "proper" auto with torque converter.

The Americans like them and seems they rival dual clutch gearboxes in many respects.

Dual clutch gearboxes are not really suited to those use to conventional torque converter boxes. :(

Many years ago I purchased a P4 Rover 80 with a half completed 3500 V8 engine conversion.

I managed to get it finished, and it was quite nice to drive. :)

I'd quite like to do it again, but with an American V8 and Jaguar suspension & brakes.

Here is a picture, the Mini 1275GT next to it was my Dads.

I don't know if you could legitimately call it the British motor industry's finest hour when the Jag E-type exists, but I think this runs it a close second. A 4-door saloon that just looks utterly fantastic from every angle. Think about how this must have looked in 1963.

I also like those Rovers, but prefer the P6b with the 3500 V8 engine. :)
Here's a P6b I used to own, converted for special stage rallying.

I like P6s, one of the few classics that are viable for everyday use today. I had the use of a 3500s for a few months in 1978, when my normal car was a knackered 850 minivan. Quite a revelation! Could have done with the optional power steering though.
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

I don't think my P6b rally car had power steering. Perhaps I had bigger muscles in my younger days.

I part exchanged my BMW R1200st for a BMW R1200R today.

I did a deal with a nice man from Bennetts in Barnsley. The bike is similar to the old one, but more "retro" style. It's very clean and lower miles than the old one.

I'll post an actual photo once I've unloaded it from the van (probably tomorrow), but here is a library picture.

That looks great Phil, Barnsley a long way to go to buy a bike ?
The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

Just a bit Steve.

Mind you, I paid £3250 for the old one a couple of years ago (it was a trade sale) and they offered me £3000 as a part exchange.

I managed to fit in a visit to Oakenshaw (for lunch) as well, so all in all, a good day out.

Had my first ride on the new BMW this afternoon.

Only did about 50 miles, but it's a bit more nimble than the old one. :D

Still haven't downloaded the photos. :(
