Hah! As you have to finish the 300km before midnight THE SAME DAY, the earlier you start the better!
Ray P wrote: Mon Sep 23, 2019 5:53 pm I guess you're taking your bikes on top of the Volvo.
We've a towbar rack that should take 5 bikes on the back of the car. Problem with bikes on top is that you then count as an extra-height vehicle and the ferry may cost more...

Just discovered that the DFDS route closed in September 2014 - there is now no UK ferry route direct to Scandinavia

Have to do Harwich to Hook of Holland... 10:30 hour drive from there to Helsingborg...

Thaks for all the info. I'll sound out a couple of guys at work tomorrow as it looks like a great adventure.

I know this might be hard to believe but..... I rode a bicycle today! It was lovely out there and I've no outstanding work to do on the motorcycles so I thought it high time I went out on Scobswell for the day.

A nice slow steady 46 mile (not kms.....) ride up to LOndon's famous London and back.

On the wagon to cross the Thames...

I think most of the Thames had leaked into the underpass at Belvedere where the cycle track goes under a roundabout, it was almost bottom bracket deep in there but we got through without wet feet. Tricky on a Fixie...

Nice.

I've had the old Canondale and the uber bike Trek Domane stolen. That's over five thousand down the drain. I 'couldn't afford' the insurance so although I'll get a few quid for the Canondale.

I don't care too much. It was always too posh for me....posh but stunning. I keep on cycling and enjoy the ride but I'm no lycra speedo freak, prefer my own company sort of thing anyway so 'fuck that eh'. - worse things can happen.

And they might. Ho hum.

It's the smashed locks and the shredded door, the intrusion. Guess it was just our turn, as all the peeps in our street have been burgled too.

Life...

Onwards!

Well I have a respectable Boardman hi-brid, not to be discounted or sneered at. I've done a lot of miles and enjoyed many an outing though never further than say 70 miles. And I'm not getting any younger fitter lean more handsome etc etc, so, it will do me fine.

Ta for your concern but never mind, pickmyself up, dust myself down and clamber back aboard.

That's an admrable outlook Mr. I - not sure I could be quite so relaxed about something like that. Very sorry to here that you've been violated so though.

I thought about how much my bikes are worth a few months ago and took out specialist insurance through my British Cycling membership - fingers crossed that I don't have to use it but it seems a better arrangement than just having the bikes on the home contents insurance.

BTW, apart from supporting cycling generally, a benefit of British Cycling membership is personal liability insurance - handy if you are ever the cause of an incident. Anyone else a member?

Oh, and legal support if you're involved in an accident and need to make a claim against a third party.

Yep. I'm a member. Have to be as to cycle with San Fairy Ann, you have to have liability insurance.

Sensible really.

Incidentally, SFA is a great and highly active club with well over 400 members...
