So, the 'Audio-Talk CC' club on Strava is up and running with, currently (see the pun!), three members, myself, little eddy and Jack. Any other prospective members?

I've got a trixy one for the team...which I may have asked before(apologies if I have)

Harry Holdsworth has a pair of Wolber GTA gentleman wheels at the mo but the front bearing pings. I have cleaned it and re greased it but it's best days are behind it as the cups are pitted. I can, and do, still use it when the mem sahib lets me out.

the rear is fitted with a 7 speed Shimano cassette: 21-13.

I was given a good pair of camag zonda 16R, the rear of which is fitted witha campag 8speed cassette: 23-12.

I would like to fit the campag wheels on Harry Holdsworth but I'm guessing the current shimano 300 derrailleur wont index well on the campag wheels. The shifter is on the frame.

The obvious thing would be to fit just the campag front wheel but that would look well odd cos they only have 16 aero spokes and deep rims and the wolbers are standard wheels.

anybody got any cheap suggestions on how to sort this?

Hmmmmm the campag cassette wont index. I have been there and humiliated by a bike engineer who has subsequently become a good friend.

Dtb would suggest...... fixie.

I'm very unhappy about what I thought was a perfect late 60s Peugeot ( Tom Simpson) only to find the front changer isn't Simplex after all and the original wheels ( five gear Regina) are knackered when I have spare a lovely set of 700cs with a shiny new 8 speed cassette - just not compatible. Bloody annoying.

If you are prepared to throw a lot of money at the problem...... bah
Harry Holdsworth, is it worth it?

Loved your song by the way ( and the beard) all v.much like Grateful Dead!

Can you get a Shimano compattable hub for the campag rear, but probably just as cheap to buy a replacement wheel with Shimano hub.

Will the Campag rear wheel fit inside Harry Holdsworth's rear end ?
Only saying because there was a change in rear hub width around the time 8-speed came out. It might need at least a bit of splaying out.

ps. Sheldon Brown's website pages are getting flaky - he died a while ago .

Good but irritating question... all this incompatability. Campag was ( is?) a bugger for all its many models and upgrades just like Leica ( dont get me started). Back in Harry Holdsworth's era Campag was Record or perhaps novo record. I knew where I was in those days.... Simplex. Couldn't afford the quality. My school boy racing didnt suffer though perhaps, my ego did as my chums, who raced less, polished their campags.

My recent Peugeot find ( in Yorkshire) which turns out to be less than perfect has metric pedals and bottom bracket. I could wish for eeeeeeengleeeesh but where oh where are the Leotard pedals to fit!?

Grrrrr, I'm grooving to Kinda a Blue and schmozzling Shiraz - a temporary fix.

First things first Ed; have you checked that the wheels fit into your front and rear forks, especially the rear as that's changed as the number of gears has increased, along with the dishing of the spokes.

For Ray, front'll fit, back wont fit by a mile. Hateful innit.

For Andrew, front should fit but there are no guarantees with anything like this nowadays, back definitely won't without some botching.

Anyway, while there's a virtual huddle of A-T cyclists around Ed's rear end, there are still only three members of the Audio-Talk Cycling Club on Strava!
