Good thing to do - we've been lucky up here in N.Wales lately - now we have to give the West Country a turn. Gives you a perspective on the pros when you see them on your own roads, doesn't it ?
Not sure about that 7:20 start ... Dave - that must be in the evening, right ?

I've only been doing little local loops again recently as I've got a very time-consuming but enjoyable project going on down the shed...

The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

Am I alone in not being able to load up that page ?
Tried at work and at home.
Perhaps someone can describe it ?

Buying a road bike. My trusty Holdsworth 531/Campagnolo touring bike (35 years of service) is being retired...

Not posted for a few weeks as I don't want to be a bore but have been turning out the miles regularly.
I had a good ride out with a work colleague early this morning, up onto the Blackdown Hills with two long climbs and some steep shorter gradients. It was a bit damp and the last few miles were in hard rain so the long descent had to be taken cautiously. It was worth it though as the computer duly reported PBs on both the long hills and on the hardest short one!
Departed: Sep 22, '18, 07:31AM
Starts in: Taunton Deane, England, GB
Distance: 36.6 mi

Avg. Speed: 15.2 mph
Moving Pace: 00:03:57

I took the day off work today (cos its me burfday - 61 today) and treated myself to a trip to the seaside. When I got there (Blue Anchor) I enjoyed a nice mug of coffee an a piece of jam flapjack at the Driftwood cafe (highly recommended);
and watched 'Foxcote Manor' hauling a train up from Minehead on its way to Bishops Lydeard;
The weather was good, after a nippy start, and the route was stunningly beautiful as it skirted the Brendon Hills and Exmoor;
Here are the facts and figures;

A while since I contributed anything worthwhile to this, so here goes:
Last weekend (Saturday morning) a mate & I did the "al Qudra" loop - this is proper tarmac track laid out in the desert - you see Oryx and eagles & stuff... and sand. A lot of sand.
Every night some poor sods in little road sweeping carts go round and get it all clean and shiny again for the next day. We start at 6AM.
The track below isn't mine, but it shows the route. The stick of the lollipod is about 16km, i.e. 32km go & return, then the loop is about 50km and actually has some small hills. I must get an app to so properly what goes on. you start at 06:00 or earlier if you can (dawn is about 05:30 - 05:45 at the moment.

We were only doing around 25 - 30 km/h, but it was seriously hot and the wind was in our faces for 50% of the time.
