That's just reminded me there was a rather good book by a guy called Brian Hall a few years ago ( 1980's ? ) that involved touring in the eastern block. I wonder if I can find the title ?
Edit : Yes :

Meanwhile I seem to have caught a chest cold - maybe that's why I felt so crap on Wednesday. Fingers crossed for Owston...

I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like
it's got a bell and a basket and things to make it look good
I'd lend it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.
they don't write 'em like that anymore...sadly

As the saying goes, 'after the feast comes the reckoning', so after our week down in Cornwall, with a plentiful supply of proper pasties and cream teas at hand and without a bike, it's back to some hard pedalling today!
Actually I must have been pretty good while we were away as I only gained 1lb and in spite of the week long lay off I felt strong when I set off this morning - it shows in the numbers too, a lumpy 27.5miles at an average of 15.9mph and a much better VAM. Here's the data...
Departed: Jul 03, '18, 08:17AM
Starts in: Taunton Deane, England, GB
Distance: 27.5 mi
Elevation: +1875/-1856 ft
Max Grade: 10.9 %
VAM: 535 Vm/h
Ascent time: 01:04:07
Descent time: 00:39:49
Moving Time: 01:43:56
Calories: 1191
Avg. Watts: 191
Max Speed: 37.7 mph
Avg. Speed: 15.9 mph
Moving Pace: 00:03:46
Max Heartrate: 140 bpm
Min Heartrate: 70 bpm
Avg. Heartrate: 117.3 bpm

Every cycle engine needs fuel, Pasties and cream teas are fuel. Top work.

Looks like you have to ride a fixie to do those sort of stunts, probably helps if you did skateboard tricks too....

I was thinking more of the skills and experiences required rather than what you might look like...
Did you have someone in mind?
