The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.
#2221 Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.
An interesting cycling challenge came into work today; 24hrs endurance ride for teams of six riders on a banked velodrome in aid of charity - tempting to see if we can get a team together in the office - I know I could turn in a 4 hour shift over the 24hours.

I walk more than that most weeks.

1st outing of 2020.
Out to Bromham Mill for coffee and cake. Never have I felt so old, tired, creaky, achey and cold, cold hands. Thence to Kempston and down the fever tree clad banks if the grey, green, greasy Hrest River Ouse to Bedford and home.
9.7 miles!

I have felt exhausted and stiff from a 40min ride in some years recently -sounds like it was a good distance to try - it's always improved pretty rapidly by 15min increments from there, when I re-started.

Short outing in atrocious weather. Slow, with very strong headwinds and rain...

Good effort. 'course the weather was nice round here
Another walk, a little bit further, along the ridge. The rain in last 2 or 3 days has turned the path back into a mud-bath in many places. Quite difficult to stay upright, but I did. Stats 2:09:44 at avg bpm of 133. I think that's progress , given I went further and the path was hard going.
Sun was a bit bashful, here's a shot as the light was dimming and I was just about to do the final descent to the car -

I got a 'pat on the back' voucher from work so I've invested in a new bike computer; the battery in my current one is getting a bit tired and is only good for a couple of hours riding, plus it doesn't have navigation like the new one, nor the automatic syncing to Strava, etc.

This one gets good reviews and people seem to rate the interface as better than Garmins. I already have a couple of Wahoo Tickt HRMs and they other sensors that'll interface easily.
I alway record my rides on my smart phone too, for contingency, but generally have that in my back pocket.

I sent you a Strava 'follow' request Nick.
Are the rest of the Audio-Talk cycling fraternity on Strava? We could set up a club.

I had a quiet time cycling last week but have done a couple of hard rides yesterday and today; really blustery this morning - hard work!

Against my better judgement () I've already accepted!
I use a Garmin Edge plus and as a backup also have a Garmin Vivoactive watch... (oh, and RideWithGPS on the 'phone..)
