As I'm devoid of imagination, I'm following Ray's lead and (probably) getting the same Wiggle one he has. 🤔

The 105-5800 chainset is excellent and it's a good strong frame. I may upgrade the rear wheel as it has to support my 100+ kg over potholes 😀

Arr, not bad for someone of my age! It was on the winter bike too, with 32mm tyres so I expect to do it faster on the new bike in due course.

Nick, I think you'll enjoy the Vitus if you get one, it rides well.

Two quick questions.

1. Recommendations for a bike stand for when you're work on the bike - i.e. wheels off the ground...

2. Recommendations for wall-mounted bike rack - we now have three road bikes in the "boot room" and the cats are ... revolting... I need to put the bikes up on the wall... (Individually)

Ta!

For storage I bought something like this from Screwfix; works well but I can't see it on their website.

For maintenance you can't go far wrong with the basic Park Tools stand, it's what I use.

That's a bummer Nick

I've been doing a little 'restoring'...my version of stove enamelling... in the pic I'm just heating the laquer applied today over the decals today,
both the woodburner and the frame was very hot last night after a couple of days of spraying

25 miserable miles this morning - damp, windy and very muddy - needed to get some miles as tomorrow's weather forecast suggests it will be an enforced rest day;

Looks like a nice vintage frame Steve - looks like a very large frame though, at least 24in?

Yes a 24" Ray.. I have a soft spot for old bikes but 24 or 25 seems to fit me better. I'm doing two bike together, the Hobbs was originally a fixy model and will be returned to that, it's a model 14 from early 51
I also am restoring a large Bates from 56
One owner before me, that will fitted with the old simplex gears and suicide front.. we have spent the winter at spinning classes expecting to do some mileage when the weather improves
