I must admit, I just love the 76 with a choke load.

We should try several others, and I was going to, but I stalled at the 76 :-).

I must try the 76 sometime, perhaps a the first gain stage in a 300B followed by something like the 6N6P driver you built, Nick - just dreaming and thinking aloud really.

Its the Basie + from diyhifisupply. I've currently got 6N6Ps in it but I've also got some 6CG7s which will give me much more gain. The F4s and 989s don't seem to need any more voltage gain but next time i put the Basie back in the chain I will try it anyway just to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks Ian. I'm interested as I have 6N1Ps and 6N6Ps in the phono at the moment. When I've got the PSU fettled I'll have a play with 6CG7s and 6DJ8s, 5751s, ECC83s etc.
