Ever thought of what would be your dream purchase hi-fi wise when the lottery numbers come up ?

Here's one from my list.

So, why arent we all building these?

Quick check on ebay shows tube and socket prices are acceptable.

I guess were talking serious voltages?
Serious transformers?

It's the design statement as well Graeme, not just the valves ! Must admit I do keep looking at GU-48 on e-bay. 8)

That actually sounds quite sensible!

Cost of the transformers is the only real problem.

No-one's mentioned vinyl yet. How about one of these?

The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

A few items that might come in handy :

http://www.teresaudio.com/certus.html
http://www.dynavector.com/products/cart/e_xv1t.html
http://www.cessaro-horn-acoustics.com/index.php?id=23
http://www.durand-tonearms.com/About/about.html

Amplifiers clearly you would build yourself or possibly commission 'LongDog Audio' to make them for you while you lie on a beach drinking Margaritas .

Odd as it may be, if I was stupidly rich, I don't think I'd have anything much better than what I have now - a little better sure; but the prices one pays for bling Hi-Fi are a bit silly and I doubt that I'd get that much better enjoyment than I do now.

There is something horribly wrong with the world we live in and conspicuous consumption is not a harmless bit of fun.

I could go on but I won't.

Hmmm...

Personally, I'd buy some Tannoys... There's something to be said about the whole point-source thing that the so-far mentioned speakers would miss...

I, too, would give Nick a blank cheque, and ask Colin and Scott to think up some nice cabinets for the Tannoys (they'd receive half a blank cheque each).

I'd probably still use my iPod as a source... :D

Wait, scrap all of that.

I'd pay any band I want to listen to, to play live in front of me. Stereo imaging like you wouldn't believe...
