Ray & Jack
Laptop is fooked.
Went toes up after or during a big Windows update. There is one for this April apparently.
With instructions from someone else I made a recovery boot-up USB, but still doesn't want to play. Now looking like it might be a hardware prob, "Your PC needs to be repaired - a required device isn't working".
Also battery is dying, also been keep getting BIOS message "can't recognise type of AC adaptor" at every power-up. So have been booting up on battery to avoid it ...

My Lenovo laptop is still working OK since the BSOD dramas.
Never did find out what the trouble was.
I've done four computer updates to the latest Microsoft data, two laptop and two PCs, with no problems.
PS. What make/model is your laptop Mike ?

We've got loads... They seem to overwinter in the compost bins so we stopped forking them over. In the warm weather they hide under the old carpet on top of the bins - if you whip the carpet off, there they are though they go and hide pretty sharpish.

Precisely what my sister in law, Ruth, has been doing in her allotment.

That "talking picture" TV channel has quite a few short "glimpses" from the old days.
The BSA and AA sidecar one was interesting.

I saw a very good short documentary about a huge sheep station in Australia . The area of the farm was 3500 ( I expected acres .. ) square miles (!).
Farmer went off on his BSA with a collie riding pillion, to check on the perimeter fences. Came back with a live sheep to go in the pens near the farm , for the cooking pot later. What tickled me was the sheep ( which was a whopper ) was content to be laid across the petrol tank of the BSA , with the sheepdog laid out on top of him, nice comfy ride for the collie !

Not intentionally. But the ac adaptor is flaky so possible.

Currently at the Chesford Grange Hotel nr Leamington (Shakespeare country!), it’s a bit posh but they do these special offers, last year I did an ‘Autumn break’ this time it’s a ‘spring break’. As per last year, most of the other guests seem to be on works seminars so I’m guessing paid for by business accounts! Also got a 20% off voucher for booze so can’t be bad. Just finished a curry, polishing off the Zinfandel followed by coffee.
