Wasnt the 308 the magnum PI car?
If so do you have to drive it wearing a pastel suit jacket with the sleeves rolled up

Yes, he had a late model one. Slow on the uptake !
I think I got my brochure in about 1978 , they had the original front spoiler and smaller rims. Pretty classic look.
The 512BB was a lovely vehicle too, it was in the same brochure - I should look up some videos on those.
I drove a 355 for a few laps on the circuit near Wigan a few years ago - it was lovely.

Many years ago I rallied a Rover 3500 (Rover 2000 shape) and on one special stage event we did a lap of Snetterton racing circuit.

That was exciting, more so when on semi knobbly tyres.

A photo of the Rover 3500 rally car, on a special stage, but not Snetterton.

I've always liked the 308, I sent off for brochures when I was a teenager ( still got that Ferrari brochure )
Not sure I'd be up for this sort of stress, even if I had £34k floating around doing nothing -
I had a mate back in the eighties who’s dad owned a 308, it was a stunning car. Frowned upon a bit these days but it was a joy to be in. The acceleration back then was very impressive, today it is probably meh.

There’s better car stuff out there at the moment, check out Thames TV retro classic series, Tyrells classic workshop and Harry’s Garage

Always loved the Dino, saw one at the Scottish Italian car show once when I was showing my 166 and 164. Beautiful.

I see a hydrogen fuel cell powered train has been tested in the UK.

A mate of mine had a 308GTS QV back in 1989, which I once drove around a twenty mile circuit of Rutland Water, most of which was wide open sweeping B roads. Absolutely wonderful! It was fast, but not devastatingly so, but the thing that stayed with me was the wonderful feeling of precision about everything it did, and the feedback and responsiveness was intoxicating.

The only downside was the reactions of other people. Being uncertain whether I was insured or not, I stuck strictly to the 30 limit through Oakham, and was promptly overtaken by a Morris 1000, a 2CV (just) and two ford escorts in the space of about half a mile, all with stupid grins all over their faces.

My mate, being a savvy type, kept it for about nine months at time when the classic car market was going nuts. He bought it for £29k and sold it for £52k, which is about what it would be worth today, 31 years later!
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

Many many years ago (pre-marriage/pre-children) I had a s/h 328GTB bought from Maranello Concessionairs in Egham.

It was almost impossible for me to drive - my size 12 feet didn't fit upright in the footwell, my feet were too wide and covered more than one pedal, my knees jammed behind the steering wheel, my head was jammed on the roof.

It was a disaster - I returned it after a month. They did offer to alter the floorpan, but as it was pretty much on the road anyway, there wasn't a whole lot of room for manoeuvre ...

I had to accept that I was never going to fit into most of the cars I wanted to drive - Ferraris are designed for short, fat, Italians. I ended up going for cars built by taller races, i.e. the Germans. The next car was a RS1600i and then a BMW M3 E30 (in 1988), both of which were easy. I had M3s until our first kid - not a very practical car for children.

Magnum (Tom Selleck) could only drive the 308GTS as it was a convertible...

A friend in Dubai let me drive his Aston Martin V12 Vantage S, which actually had a lot of space and was a comfortable, though terrifying, drive. Terrifying in that I was frightened of getting even the tiniest mark on it and that with nearly 600bhp and a top speed of over 200Mph, getting pinged by one of the 1,000s of speed cameras in the city would have been very easy & expensive. A thing of beauty.

I have some .eu domains...

Just been told by the .eu TLD domain manager that unless I can provide evidence of being an EU citizen, after Jan 1 2021 I will lose the domains...

Luckily, I'm also Portuguese... but this is going to annoy a lot of people...

is there some benefit in having an eu domain, as opposed to a .org or a .co.uk domain for example?

No, but if you've built a business around a domain name which you then have to give up, it's a pain, especially as someone else could then pick up and use that domain.

I have a bunch of IoT devices (several 100) in the field that talk to one of my .eu domains... upgrading them OTA would be possible, but fraught with risk.

good point...

a bit late but I'd have thought it's time to migrate and put a divert on the eu home pages with a large message....unless of course you have Portuguese citizenship, in which case it's all a bit academic.

edit: posts overlapped.........I hadn't considered the iot aspect.....good opportunity to go into AI and teach all the iot uploads to recognise such things.

Brexit. The gift that keeps on giving.

You have my sympathy, I also have some .eu names, but in my case it was just covering TLD's. I can see what a pain it would be with your IoT stuff though. Maybe getting a static ipv6 address would be a long term fix?
