My visit to West Yorkshire over Christmas was happy enough, BUT is seems I caught something whilst up there and have been a bit poorly since. Even got a trip to A & E in an ambulance early Thursday morning, but no flashing lights.

Things seem better now. :D

Cripes !
Keep up the recovery. We had one or two people over Yorkshire way who had been suffering from flu before Chritmas and were not 100% .

There's quite a lot if it about sadly. I had an absolutely stinking cold before Christmas and barely got out of bed the first week. Managed to get out of bed the week of Christmas, and now finally starting to feel something like after 3 weeks. Just in time to go back to work :-(.

That's a Yorkshire cold for you.

Nearly as bad as "man flu".

silly boys!

Anyway wherever it is written..., in answer I bought another Squeezebox Touch - seemed the simplest thing to do and this one also seems to be more slick than my one remaining working model so, Hooray!

And now for something completely different –

Last couple of weeks I've been watching DVD's of The Jetsons. Very like The Flintstones, but set in a far future. Was early 1960's, 1962 I think. I thought it interesting how a few things have actually come to pass –

1. robot vacuum cleaner – a little machine that whizzes around the floor sucking up dirt. (And sweeping it under the carpet!)

2. a drum kit with no actual drums, instead he hits a circular desktop. Such now actually exist where the "drums" are flat panels and the sound is synthesised. Cymbals have to be real ones, tho, and so it was also in the cartoon! :o

3. large flatscreen TV's and computer monitors. Obvious really.

4. moving walkways. Which now exist in airports etc.

5. Video phones. We now have Skype, and suchlike, not that I've used it. (?) And video conferencing I suppose.

6. The first ever hint, possibly, of what we may now recognise as the Personal Computer, or even smart phone. In one episode the youngest kid, Elroy, has a "math computer" to help him with homework. It's literally the size and shape of a 1980's "brick" mobile phone.

7. Extending from this, Elroy converses with his math computer verbally, and in fact they all do with their various computers and robots, and this is also happening now with Cortana etc. In light of this, it's perhaps odd that they still have to push buttons on other machines.

:D
