I didn't say it was a worthwhile return...

Sorry it wasn’t meant as a criticism of your post Nick. Peter Jones only bought the trading name afaik but if he’s only going to replicate stuff readily available from the likes of Amazon then it’s doomed from the start, there’s nothing different.

The thing about Maplin was the shops. It might get you out of a fix if you needed a resistor or some speaker connectors on a Sunday while you were urgently trying to finish something off. Or, like I used to do, you could nip off while you mother was shuffling around Marks & Spencer, and have a browse for useful bits for a forthcoming project.

I've got these chaps 2 mins away, much closer than Maplins used to be:

so if I can't be bothered to fill in an RS order I just pop round for a chat. I think I've mentioned them before....awesome service!

not open at weekends though.

Well it made me smile. Some may regard it as cheating using a running dog at a competition that involves dogs running :-)

Whilst out walking this morning I found a lost mobile phone.

It's an Alcatel PIXI on Tesco network, but I can't get past the security code.

Other than contacting the local Police is there anything I can do ?

There are usually local community pages on Facebook, good chance of reuniting it with its owner if you post on there.

🙄😀

Give it to someone who lives in the 21st century and let them post...😀

Being a tiny bit serious - the village Facebook pages (assuming that you have one) are excellent for this sort of stuff...

First newt of Spring!

Found this little chappie looking rather confused in the the workshop just now... it's a "Smooth Newt" - very common, but still protected.
