Bovington is a great day out, well worth a visit.

I second that statement. :)

When were you last there? I went there with my dad sometime back in the '70's, maybe my memory's playing tricks (not unusual!) but I went there again couple of years ago, and it seemed "dumbed down". Lots of stuff for kids to play with, which is required in any museum now I guess. There are also "talking horses" (if you've been there lately you know what I mean). I couldn't find one exhibit I remember from the 1970's visit which was a WW1 tank with one side removed (but covered in glass), so you see the complete interior and where the crew sat (manikins). Another one I remember that is now missing was an actual working transmission where you could move the levers and see which output shafts turned.

If you're visiting Bovington, or the general area, have time and the range isn't in use consider a visit to Tyneham;

Last minute decision - booked the afternoon off tomorrow and thought I would tootle along to the Bristol HiFi show for a few hours. I don't have great expectations but it's been years since I attended a commercial show and it beats checking spreadsheets.

Will anyone else be there?

Aren't there? Its part of an active range, which is why access is restricted.

But, apart from the military side, it's like a time capsule come archaeology site and the area is beautiful.

I will be there on the Saturday and Sunday. Andrew will be there on the Friday and Saturday.

I saw an ad on Ebay for some open baffle speakers with 18" Beyma drivers, but no mids or tweeters.

I sent the chap an Ebay message making an offer, but Ebay have banned personal details like address and phone numbers being exchanged before a sale has been completed.

So, he put up a £1 BIN (buy it now) item for sale which I bid on, and now I have his details.

Off to collect them tomorrow (Saturday) from the Leek area, might take in a preserved railway (Churnet Valley Railway) as well to make the day out more interesting. :)

I said hello to Mr. Brooks who said you would be arriving for the Saturday. It would have been nice to have bumped into Andrew but never mind.

My expectations were pretty much met, a lot of hifi but not much music. Best room I came across was the Malvern Audio one. Falcon had some nice sounds with their LS3/5a speakers (special editions I think). Spendor was the worst, just a quagmire like sound. Give me the sounds at Owston any day.

Brilliant day out, and as a bonus the seller threw in a brand new pair of Beyma BMA10AGN 10" full range drivers. Still in the boxes ,never used.

The 18" Beyma drivers are in an unusual design of box, but I'll give the details in a separate thread.(probably tomorrow)
