Only if you tell us how long it was and how funny it was in standard units :)

Nick/Ed, I've been going through your maths... I think you've got a unit wrong.

'dCM', I'm not sure about this because on Tiswas dCM stood for decondensed milk, as in the fave sandwich filling of Algernon Winston Spencer Castlereagh Razzmatazz.

or

1 Nagillim = 1 Milligan^-1

can I do a superscript here, I was thinking of a ^-1 as a superscript in maths font

no but really I was thinking of Cheech and Chong
Yes to both of them as I believe they are the same thing.

I think it was within 100 yards, more accurately I cannot say.

Guys,

If you have CCleaner installed, check that it’s not 5.33 – the current version is 5.34 – 5.33, even though it’s legitimately signed, carried a trojan backdoor (Trojan.Floxif). 5.34 is clean…

Updating to 5.34 clears this, though it leaves the malware on your system.

Running the free Malwarebytes edition with the latest updates will detect & remove this, though it requires a reboot.

I’d run MWB anyway – this sort of injection into a legitimate update is not the first and won’t be the last – it weakens the trust between customers and suppliers.

Note that it seems to only activate on 32-bit systems and we’re mostly 64-bit, but it still leaves the trojan on your host.

I need a second pc for er indoors. I'm not a fan of Windows and I'm wondering what would be involved in buying a pc/Chromebook for about £500 and running Unix. The process of installing the software would have to be suitable for a near beginner. I would like the OS to be as intuitive as possible to use.

Unix? Are you sure? Do you mean Linux then go for something like Ubuntu or probably better Mint....although I'd say it's still not 100% new user friendly......

Ubuntu is easy enough to install, you need a flash drive download it to your current pc and create a boot drive out of the flash drive.
On my laptop I first formatted it, then plugged the flash drive into it and the drive prompted all the way through the install.
You can burn it to a disc if you burn the disk image too iirc.

Yep, I would argue making a boot disk with a DVD is the simpler way of going, but it depends what you have to hand, and what bootable devices the target has. You can get a perfectly good machine to run a Linux from Ebuyer for £200-£300, depends on what you want from it.

It would mainly be used for surfing including displaying video clips with audio. I doubt we would use it for any office software except simple word processing. It would be useful if I could boot Windows up for my Peak DCA75 but that's all I need that OS for. I could always use my old PC laptop for the Peak if it simplifies things.
Any suggestions for a machine - make , model?

Have you got a display to use with it?
