Jeans car ended up hitting a tree this morning.
Fortunately the hospital found no broken bones, but she is in some pain from seat-belt pull and rapid deceleration.
Bloody lucky all the same.

Thanks Ali.
Luckily it was only 2 miles from home so I was there before the Police and Ambulance, and was able to comfort her whilst she was laying on the road.

Good rapid response there, Philip. Good that you had the competence to deal with it and even better that Jean is just a little beaten up. I hope she gets better soon.

We left the car at home yesterday and caught the train down to Totnes and thence by river boat to Dartmouth - not the best day out as it chucked it down the whole time and we ended up I shops a lot of the time as their are only so many cream teas to be consumed in a day!
Anyway, on the way home there were serious delays at Exeter due to signalling problems and they were re-routing trains but for that wasn't viable for Exeter to Taunton destinations so they were using taxis as there were only a few of us. The first taxi was loaded with four passengers and headed off and we were put into the second one with a couple of strangers. The rain was hammering. A couple of minutes into the run up the M5 we encountered the first taxi facing the wrong way, snuggled into a rather bent length of central-reservation Armco!
I haven't been able to find out anything about the accident, but that hopefully means there were no serious injuries or worse.
The silver lining was that it clearly shook up our taxi driver who had been driving fast for the conditions but kept to between 50 and 60mph for the rest of the M5 stretch.

Sorry to hear that Phil, glad she's OK. Any particular reason for the accident?

Appendix: I remembered there is a nasty S bend on the A44 going westward into Crossgates and Wales (nearly came off the first time in 1983) but I keep forgetting actually there's two of them, so the first one I think ah that's the nasty S bend, no, the second one is THE nasty S bend, the first is just the overture . . .

Sorry to hear this Phil, glad you and Jean are OK.

I was in Aldi this afternoon (Sudbury) and they had a vinyl LP on sale.
