#1 SE2A3/300B Diff Driver

Post by Cressy Snr »

Here is the silly circuit I worked out for driving a 300B or 2A3
I stuck it here to avoid hijacking Dave's thread.

Make sure the interstage is happy with the current on what is normally its secondary.
Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.

OK just quickly before I go to work I;ll be devil's advocate.

Yes Steve Bench uses push pull to drive SE, but that is because of the voltage swing and difficulty in driving the 845.

Your 2a3 has no special needs and 300b is probably better diven by a good SE dht stage.

Not wanting to enter argumentativeky into the fray about reasons why push pull doesn't sound the same as se or vice versa' but would like to mention that;

if it is in the transformers that PP all goes wrong (plausible as OTL sounds fantastic) then you introduce worst of pp to se

Oh forget it I have to go.

In short extreme complexity and cost for what? Where is the need?

Yeah in the cold light of this morning, I'm of the same opinion. What's the point? I think I'll just enjoy what I've got and think about the OTL breadboard like I was supposed to be doing. That might be a bit more sensible.
