It's snowing here at the moment, the forecast is for rain later.

Got a horrendous sore throat so trying to keep warm. Just getting over an eye infection as well, conjunctivitis.

I feel for you Mark, as I fear what problems my Mum might develop in future.

Speak to Social Services - she may be entitled to all sorts of support now which could save you all a bob or two - it's amazing what's out there if you look.
I'm with Nick on this one. Social services were great when my mother was suffering dementia. They like to keep people in their own homes for as long as possible. A GP can often speed up access to the assessment in the home stage, which is the first thing they need to do before they can put a care plan together.

Bluddy hell.

Commiserations.

I've hardly been out to avoid that sort of stuff, after last January!

Snow? You want snow? Just had my team's offsite - so much snow (it never stopped) that we got very little skiing in and had to WORK!

Yes.

Re respite care, I'm interpreting this as would be temporary until shoulder is fixed. They want to get her out the hospital but she can't cope at home yet.

My mum, who was developing dementia, was in an appraisal facility in Billericay for 6 weeks while they worked out if she could go back home and what would be needed. Then a care package was put in place.

Yes Mike - she's actually quite healthy in many ways and her brain is fine. It could take a few weeks before she's safe to leave in the house between visits, or at night.
I'll get in contact with social services then, my sister can start this tomorrow when she talks to the physio at hospital or if that happens on Tuesday. I shall try & find out who her GP is, as well.

I'm sure Harry Hill would agree with me that this is 'far from ideal' .

That's a good point I never thought of, because of course my mum & I used the same doctor.

Hospital will want to inform the GP I would expect.

Stair lift should be fine Mark, my parents had two (town house) so loads of stairs, AFAIR they are 24v, battery in the chair motor unit so just need a convenient socket to plug the charger into. I remember the installers running the low voltage side of the charger under carpets...

Car insurance renewal time, flipping heck the b'stards wanted £315 so I went on-line (same company) and immediately got the same for £295 with a lower excess....then I changed my occupation to 'retired'.....£209....oh the joy!

Line of unrelated context demarcation.

Spanish omelette al la Boston (England) ...
.
Spanish-omelette.jpg
.

Techincally a basic Spanish omelette is just an omelette with sautéd potato chunks in it, with possibly diced onion, but nowadays often other things are added.

Mine: peel & small-chop about six small new potatoes, simmer in (lightly) salted water for 10 minutes. Dice half a small onion, & approx. one sixth each of red green & yellow peppers. Strain the potato chunks, add to other veg & stir fry the lot in vegetable oil for another 10 minutes or so. Meanwhile, beat two large eggs in a separate bowl.

Remove the vegetables from the frying pan to the eggs bowl (don't pour, want to keep the oil in the pan), dunk and stir thoroughly to coat all the veg pieces with egg. Pour back into pan & fry like normal omelette, until eggs are done.

Add seasoning + ketchup whatever as desired.

Open gob, scoff. Mega nom!! :D
