Post by dave dove »

I putting together breadboard for VCA for modular synth
Pentode or tetrode I guess
Will have drive control and CV inputs
Needs to be small
Looking at CV4014/EF91 for starters....

Somewhere on the web is a page of valve synthesiser circuits. Includes a VCA

Thanks
Don't need the cct
Just not worked with those low B+ before
So would like suggestions for valves which run at +/-15V

ECC86 is designed for low voltages, Va max = 30V, triode though,

Don't know if this will help Dave, but you could have a look here.

Interesting reading.

Gives or could give a whole new dimension to active preamps

If you're using a conventional tetrode or pentode in space-charge mode, make sure you put 12V on the control grid, and use the screen grid as the control grid. Pentode suppressor grids are almost always tied internally to the tube cathode, but if the suppressor grid comes out separately to a pin, try putting 12V on the suppressor as well. This may allow greater gain in some circuits, as you have two grids accelerating electrons toward the weakly charged plate.
Yes verrry interestink
