Well Colin, 807 are nothing special these days, and as usual, Google came up with some information.

Hi Colin
807s are lovely valves. They are low power transmitting pentodes. They are part of the 6L6 family and thus share the same DNA as the aforementioned 6L6 and the British KT66 valve. The STC loktal based 5B254 and 5B255M are
the same valve but in a smaller straight bottle.
Triode connected, they sound very nice indeed. They look rather nice when lit up too.

Thanks for the link Philip
Yep I was aware there are a lot of the cheap Russian 807s around I just happen to come across these valvo 807 so just had a bid on and got them for £23.61 all in so not bad then
Just that it now seems I have a stock of valve from the same family that may all sound simmler to each other i.e. EL34 5881 6P3S KT66 and the 807s

807s could possibly be one of the toughest valves ever produced.
Back in the 1950s thousands of the were used in ham radio transmitters.
Not unusual to see them with bright red anodes and they would withstand this treatment almost indefinitely.
Always accompanied by the faint smell of burning flesh due to the stray RF.
Until recently you could pick them up for next to nothing at radio rallies.
No longer the case unfortunately.
