If a regulator circuit uses 6080, are 6AS7G an alternative ?

Are (cheaper) Russian valves as good as (more expensive) European and American offerings when used in for a regulated supply ?

Bruce Rozenblit mentions the 6AS7G (along with KT88, 6EM7 and 6DR7) as a good choice for the series pass element in a regger-rator cct.

Says on its datasheet as well KT88 is recommended for that.
