WD Phono III Clone Questions!

You could rebuild the PSU using the mains transformer you've got, rectify it with a 5u4 or sim. and choke input smooth it. That should drop it down to maybe 270vdc or so?! Dropper RC after, sorted! Kept nice and simple, then, like me.....

Just remember you will need to ensure that the critical current is being drawn at all times (depends on the size of choke you have). Also you will need a second LC stage and probably a RC stage as well to get ripple down to where it needs to be for that phono stage.

If you can settle for 50W, RS or Rapid? Metal clad, will still need heatsinking to handle that much power. RS have probably got other more exotic types, from what I can recall seeing
