Hi-i was reading on the net that the 12BZ7 was a "heavy duty" 12AX7 and could be usefully used as a replacement for it.

Now it's not listed as an alternative so what does the panel think.


Also what is reckoned on 6CK4 octal triodes ?

Last question-if these are useful valves anyone got some ?

Having a quick look at the numbers, the pinout is the same, but heater requirement is higher (double). The Ra is about half, gain the same, so the gm is double at 3200.

Interesting valve, no idea what it sounds like.

Had a look on AA, sound better but suffer from microphonics and get worse with age, one chap bought 8 and only 1 was usable, shame.
