That's good news Ray, it's always a little worrying when you ' test' new drivers !!
The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

I kind of wish I hadn't rediscovered the Fostex units as it's triggered my usual procrastination as I now seem to have several options...

I'm fascinated by the pear-shaped Lii Audio design that I started a separate thread on and I now seem to have the possibility of building them and using the Fostex units in the SLOBs.

Apart from the aesthetics, I'm attracted towards the Lii design by the possibility of running the Fast-10S drivers full-range, sans crossover, plus a build of that shape would be an interesting project and I have a few ideas about how to do it.

Perhaps I should just sell the Fostex units and pretend I never had them.

Too borrow a phrase from Ed, Oh Lordy!

Its probably a good thing I'm back at work today so won't have time to dwell on it.

Oooo, with a spare pair of FE167 you could build a pair of our-Ed's Pipi's.

I liked them a lot, I may have mentioned this before!

£50 per piece to you sir! I'll tell you what, if you buy one for that price I'll throw in a second one for free!

So to start cutting through this procrastination...

I don't have the money, time or space to entertain two new pairs of speakers so I'm going to stick with the Lii Audio Fast-10S units and the Fostex FE167Es will have to go so they'll go up on the 'For Sale' boards here and on DIY Audio as soon as I get some pictures of them.

That reduces the decision to one between either the SLOBs or The Lii pear-shaped reflex design.

I still incline slightly toward the OB with the Lii units as I think you'll get a more open natural sound on vocals.

Hmmm, it really is an interesting dilemma. I'm confident that a good result can be had with either approach.

The SLOB will cost in terms of the crossover, additional amps and bass speakers and the associated signal processing.

The pear-shaped bass reflex cabinet appeals to my instinct towards KISS but will be more effort to build.

Ho hum...

Ta for the very kind offer Ray but I've got a sooped-up Planet10 enabled pair already for sperrymenting with. IIRC it was Colin having a clear-out quite a few years ago, I nabbed 'em.

Phwoaarrrr! They're in a pair of DaveD's Onken boxes at the mo.

No prob, it was kind of tongue in cheek but I'll list them over the weekend.

BTW, you have noticed that there are a couple of pigeons tucking into your piccalilli sarnies?

That's Sid, Basil, Mr White, Wonky and Splodge + mates popping round for Elevenses.

Seeds and fresh bread a go go, no cheese or piccadilly involved (I've ate it all, arf!).

Ray,
You might find this web site useful for fixings should you decide to go ahead with the SLOB build https://www.fastenright.com/.
I used M6 furniture connecting bolts type E1 and matching M6 furniture connecting caps on my own OB project for fixing the panels to the side frames and the side frames to the ply base. Worked a treat and give a smart look finish https://www.fastenright.com/products/ge ... re-fixings

That's a good call Colin, I like the range of fastenings, my last investigations only came up with a limited amount of types.

Thanks Colin. That's exactly the sort of arrangement I'm looking to use but that site has a really good selection...
