Steve, that setup is looking fantastic! Nice choice with the new cabinet, and those speakers look sooooo cool!

Aye it's a nice unit, in the 50s/60s Scandanavian style that Melanie and I like.
It may seem odd to some folk to be talking about looks on a hi-fi forum, but looks are where it's going to be at
if hi-fi is to regain its rightful place in the living room and escape the shackles of the seperate listening room.
That picture represents my idea of hi-fi and its place in the contemporary living space, from both a sound quality and artistic design point of view.
IMHO the listening room concept is the biggest load of bollocks I have ever seen/heard or can imagine.
Good music, well reproduced deserves to be heard and shared within the communal living space, rather than being kept out of earshot in some vile unfathomable, den of geekery.

Quite right too - we have our stuff on a spiked Solid Tech rack at the moment which has these hideous aluminium uprights separating the shelves. I hate it. Way too tall, the only reason it has to be that tall at the moment is to accommodate the power amp on the bottom shelf with enough space above it to breathe - hence my desire to move the amplification to monoblocks next to each speaker and reduce the height of the rack.
I'd like something akin to what these guys do: http://www.hifiracks.co.uk/ but I'm sure Cressy Jr could make us something similar for the price of a pie and chips and a cup of tea.

The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

Aye, nowt wrong with that if you have the spare rooms available.
I'm not saying don't have a man cave, we all need one of those; more and more so as the years pass
