Look lovely.

Been listening to these for a few days now - really really like them.
Stereo imaging is excellent and they are pin-sharp with surprisingly good bass response.
One thing I've noticed is that, not surprisingly, they are very directional - being about 20 degrees off the axis changes the dynamics completely...

Liked the first ones so much, going to build another pair...
Should be a LOT quicker as now have templates for all the tricky stuff.

Wilmslow just told me that they've no more FF85KWs until the new year, so they've offered FF105WKs for the same price.
Don't know the FF105Ws and, anyway, they're too big for the uFonken cabs...
What do folk suggest...

I have a pair of FF105WK's that might be sold some time.
They have a spike around 7kHz that is a bit annoying if you sit on-axis to them. Aside from that, or if you use them a bit off-axis, the mid & treble tone is very good - slightly better than the 103e's. The 103e's are better on-axis though ....

Hmmm. It's significant - about 8dB up at 7kHz +/- 1kHz bandwidth. That would be noticeable - looks like a resonance - any idea what could be causing it?

I think it's near the cone edge, some higher-order mode, not dust-cap unfortunately. Dave Dlugos recommends putting some contact adhesive ( from a pen - remains slightly tacky ) on the back of the cone near the surround junction & that this cures it, but I did this & didn't find it went away enough - improved a bit.
There are a couple of very interesting small Faital drivers, 3D22 is it, and 4FE32 - will check later. Need to get the params approx. right though, to make use of existing box.

Have a look at the 3FE22 Faital.
It's actually very similar to the FF85WK on Fs , VAS and Qts. A bit lower on Qts but actually this might be better.
It has some bumps at 5kH and 10kHz on-axis, but is otherwise a very flat response.
They are cheap enough to buy one and use on a small baffle to get an idea of whether it sounds good enough.

Price may be prohibitive, but the Jordan Eikona drivers are making many friends around and about. They can be used in roughly 5l cabs (LS3/5A size) too and much work went into developing them.

I might be tempted by those when you are wanting to part with them. The vampyr cab that my 103's are in only comes on song at the bottom end when the 103 is about on xmax and I've been wanting to try a set of FF105's in them as they can take a lot more cone movement. Free's my 103's up for putting in something more suited to their strengthsIslandPink wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2017 3:47 pm I have a pair of FF105WK's that might be sold some time.
