I used Wickes clear satin acrylic varnish, five coats, rub down with wire wool, final 6th coat, to me they look great
As the loudspeaker drivers have loosened up it seems to me they are now producing more of the full frequency range as they are designed to do so I have taken the supertweeters away.
Also at my age detection of high frequencies drops off plus some medical treatment I had to go through damaged my hearing a little when it comes to high frequencies.
I can actually hear the supertweeters if I make an effort but to me their contribution is negligible so for a while I shall listen without them.
*All one driver enthusiasts give a big smile, lol*

I am not spouting old farty values or anything but how come the majority of recordings from a certain era just seem to sound better? And no, it's not my imagination, they just do.
Struggling to find words to describe the phenomenon but the obvious one is 'presence' and 'dry' also comes to mind. I dunno, wish I could describe.
