Yes Colin, have to admit they do look absolutely smashing.

Yes that was what prompted my comment on the 208, of course they most probably don't scale up nicely, things are never that simple.pre65 wrote:Yes Colin, have to admit they do look absolutely smashing.

In readiness for Owston (have I missed a date, here!) I have got the Sabs back from wintering in the shed. For ten minutes they sounded AWFUL but they are coming back into shape. I will saturate myself in Saburo ready to hear the Colin Supremes.

I've not long since returned from hearing these lovelies for a second time - I was passing and had some recordings to drop off at Colin's (well that's my excuse ).
And I still love what they can do.
Loreena McKennitt - Book Of Secrets - absolute killer
John Martyn - Solid Air - fabulous as always
Morphine - Yes - excellent quirky alternative rock
Scott, if you've not yet heard what your design can do with this driver you need to visit Colin - you'll leave with a big smile on your face.

Well now Dave.
If you can't wait until we get a date for Owston, you are most welcome to come up north to the Topps residence for a overnight stay.
Could accommodate a couple you southerners, perhaps 3 if two of you are prepared to share a large double bed. That way the petrol cost can be shared.
I could invite a few others (not for overnight stay) and we could have a mini meet

another few decent demo tracks for detail on these little puppies:
Loreen Mckennit - Live at Alhambra (get the DVD combo and listen for the acoustics of the venue space)
Patricia Barber Modern Cool - "Constantinople" "Company" "Post Modern Blues" very well produced and stunningly tight band
Eva Cassidy - Imagine "Danny Boy" - serve with a double shot of Bushmills Black Bush ( Thanks for the suggestion Scott) - kleenex highly recommended
Brother Where Art thou Soundtrack - anything
Dead Can Dance - Spiritchaser
Buddy Guy - Blues Singer "Crawlin Kingsnake" - just for fun listen to him play backup on Muddy Waters "Folk Singer" in your same listening session
Andy McKee - "Art of Motion"
Bela Fleck - Flight of the Cosmic Hippo (actually the short reprise is more interesting )
Pat Metheny - Orchestrion

Which is the expected cone diameter of a 4". FE126 is considered a 4 1/2". and surprise, has a 1/2" larger diameter cone.Toppsy wrote: Oh well that may be the case but mine are only 70mm.

Hi Topsey, very nice speakers you have built there! I just have a question or two if that is OK? Did you use veneered board, or did you veneer the lot after building them? Also, where did you get the drivers (MA) did you buy them direct?
Many thanks, Steve.
