fgnaar fgnaar :D Belmarsh not too far away, loonies and terrorists a go-go..

Sooper tweeters arrived today and passive components for filters.

Tweeters don't fit my toob, they just drop straight down t'middle, I need a 74mm ext dia toob.

So all I need now, apart from said tube, is the cabinet flatpack.

And a broom handle.

No no no. The tube you have is the exact same size Chris and I used. You need to make up a face mounting plate cut to the inside diameter of your tube and glued in place. Make this from any scrap mdf, say 12mm thick. However the thickness is not that important.

You'll also need to cut a hole in the middle for the tweeter clearance. So in effect you are making a mdf doughnut. See the tweeter data sheet for mounting hole details. The tweeter screw mounts to this face plate with the supplied screws that come with the tweeter.

Tony,

Please be careful with the A7.3 drivers that you don't drive them beyond or near their Xmax limit. The cones are quite thin and damage easily if abused.

I have read on other forums of a couple folk who, like you, have carefully broke in their A7.3 drivers only then to whack up the volume and caused a crease in the driver cone.

So do be gentle with that volume control now won't you

Instructions read, digested and understood squire :D

It'll be a while yet though cos I still need the flatpacks from your good self ;)

Looked through my hole cutters and I have one that cuts out a perfect round for the doughnut. Now I just need to get one between 43mm & 45mm for the centre opening to take the tweeter.

And a broom handle.

I thought your driver of choice is the paper coned CHP70 NOT the metal coned Alpairs :?:

The paper coned drivers don't (to the best of my knowledge) suffer this trait.

However, glad you are progressing the supertweeter build and don't forget you need a couple round 6" nails or similar together with a offcut from a broom handle to make the cradles.

Regards your FH3 flat pack. You are second in line after a similar order I have to fullfill for a guy in Demark who ordered his kit before you. However, I hope to pick up the basic CNC cut 18mm ply for your kit tomorrow. Should be able to make a start over the weekend or early next week.

EDIT.
I have just phoned Peter Benson (Plywood) Ltd to get your sheet of ply cut and collect tomorrow and it would seen their CNC cutter has broken down and they will only be able to accommodate me earliest Tuesday/ Wednesday next week, due to a large backlog of cutting orders.

I think senility is creeping in with me.

I saw the name 'Tony' and assumed you were talking to me.

I do have the CHP70's.

The world, it seems, is full of people named Tony.

In my defense I had only just got up and at the time had not consumed my first cup of coffee.

I should have made my posting clearer by Quoting Tony Moore posting.

but Tony (floppybootstomp) please note my EDIT to my last posting regards a delay to your FH3 kit. This unfortunatley is out of my control.

No probs.

I'm thinking of buying a set of clamps to make the cabinets as I also wanted to make a very simple oblong/box pair of enclosures to try my Fostex 126's in.

Can anybody recommend a good place to buy these?

Hope they're not too expensive otherwise I will have to lean on DTB's good nature and hospitality and ask to borrow his for a short while.

Hi Tony (the floppy one  )

You can try the 126 cabinets I made ages ago. They are not bad for such a small size.Try them and if you like them keep them gratis.

I can drop them off at Dartford next time I'm allowed in.
